Loxwood Football Club, nickname "The Magpies" was founded in 1920 and for most of its life it has competed in local "park" football with neighbouring towns and villages. In the 1995/96 season the club entered a young team into the West Sussex Football League, starting right at the bottom in division 5. Formed of local players, the team secured regular promotion and in 2004/05 season it won promotion to the West Sussex Permier League. Within 2 furtehr seasons the club achieved its next ambition and, following appropriate ground and facility improvements, entered division 3 of the full Susssex County League, a fantastic achievement in a short period of time. Incredibly, last season, the club won the Sussex Division 3 Championship and secured promotion. This summer has been a frantic period, with everyone involved working hard tp make the ground improvements required to secure promotion, including a concrete supporter's path down one side of the gorund and a coveredarea to stand 100 supporters. The club now competes in Division 2 of the full Sussex County League against teams from all major towns and cities across Sussex. A reserve team has been entered into the Sussex country reserves attracting talented players from Loxwood, Ifold, Wisborough Green, Ridgwick, Billingshurt and Kirdford as well as further afield in Horsham and Godalming. The club has also formed a partnership with Kirdford Junior FC, which runs teams from Under 7 to Under 16, aiming to pool resources, support local youth development and provide a natural progression for local players from youth football to full County League standard. To ensure what we have achieved is sustainable in the longer term and for the benefit of community sport we really need your support. We need volunteers to help with mathc days, financial sponsors, Committee members or simply come and support us on match days. If you can help, please contact Ray Merridew on 01403 753786.
